Rider applications

We are always on the lookout for like-minded mountainbikers interested in joining the Mighty Team FanyLion for adventures, increased fitness, heightened downhilling capabilities, alchohol consumption, ferret fancying and gerbil coursing. Are you up for it?

• Can you pat your head and rub your stomach at the same time?

• Do you have crabs? If so, then we want to hear from YOU!

What is the best way for me to apply?
You should make initial contact by email, or via one of the Contact Pages of our website. You need to make a good first impression and be prepared for a prompt reply.

What happens next?
One of the FanyLion Committee will reply to your email within a couple of days and give you a bit of an online grilling as we try to establish if you are our type of rider. If you don’t hear back within a week you have made a bad impression and should give up and crawl back under the stone from whence you came, or apply again and lie more.

When do I get to ride with Team Fanylion?
Following the short email selection process we will decide if we like the sound of you, and if we do you will be invited to attend the next FanyLion ride, be it a full Team ride or a local offshoot group riding their local trails.

When do I find out if I am finally in the Team or not?
After you have ridden with us The Committee will decide whether to formally invite you to join, whether to defer your application until such time you have made certain improvements (maybe to your fitness level or skill level: we have minimum standards), or whether to never contact you again because you are a total eeejit. You will find out one way or another by email in the week following your initial ride.

If my application is deferred, what happens then?
The Committee will decide the period that should elapse before you make another application. In this time we will keep in touch with you to monitor your progress and may well invite you on smaller, local rides to assess your improvement.

And when I am a full member, what happens then?
You will then be a fully-fledged Team Member! You will be issued with your Team Name, email address, t-shirts, website user access and the chance to deck yourself out with biking kit from our varied and superb sponsors. You will also receive invitations to all full Team FanyLion rides and will wonder just how dark and dismal your life was before you joined Team FanyLion.
