I was pounded by Techno last weekend. A 60 mile road soiree out to Burnsall in the Dales saw me gnawing my handlebars before the half way point due to my recent LurgsTM. By the time we rode back into Leeds I was struggling to keep my speed in double figures and was suffering tunnel vision. Take it to the limit guys.

We are meeting in a car park during the day and we are booked into a hotel for the night (although it might be a B&B). Or a campsite. As he FELL on the soft grassy field a little umph reverberated around the grassy quarry swiftly followed by his refusal to ride back to the car! The End

Braved subzero dawn temperatures for the 85 mile Gatwick Sportive yesterday. Was out in front for 45 miles before taking a wrong turn and totally ballsing it up. And riding an additional 14miles. Beautiful ride though!

Scenic? Are you having a laugh?

Kippax. Castleford. Scenic? For those of you who don't know the area, don't be fooled by Hodgson's description of the area as being 'scenic' - perhaps the noxious car fumes are going to his head, but calling Castleford scenic is like calling Starkey beautiful.

After a comedy experience trying to be allowed onto the trails (because of an impending road rally) I managed to ride the fully opened 'red' route at Dalby Forest on Friday - 22 miles of fast and flowy trails, about 80% of which was singletrack. Not quite Glentress, but certainly a huge improvement on the mud-fest that Dalby used to be.

What an amazing but incredibly tough week all done drug free including a respectable Alpe du Huez time of 1hr 19min (Lance Armstrong did it in 39.41) Now I know the pain, now I know why they take drugs and now I know why such classic Cols and Alps must be respected.
