Fox Leg Armour

Fox 'Extreme' Elbow Pads: quite small, which is what I wanted (didn't want long forearm section which could chaff on my hand), they protect the elbow and not much forearm. Look very good, with Darth Vader type pads. Have pretty good flexibility, with notches to allow movement. A snug fit, but too tight to fit over a jersey, they will have to go next to your skin and you will have to wear a short sleeved shirt or roll your long sleeve up, they won't fit beneath.

Fox '911' Knee/shin pads: look ok, but not as good as Extreme elbow guards. Protective pads are rounder rather than the more techno looking square ones of the elbow pads. Ventilation pretty poor, and the fit is terrible. The ankle straps are too long and miss their velcro fasteners, the calf straps are just right, the thigh fastener is far too short and hardly reaches its fastener. Maybe I had them on upside down? No, I didn't. Plus the thigh strap stitching scratched my leg (and that was just after 2 mins: god knows how uncomfortable that would be after 5hrs in the Spanish Sun!).

My advice: stay well away from the 911 leg guards. They are crap. I will be taking them back today and getting the Roach Rally Freeride pads. I tried them on last week and they fit like a glove. Unfortunately they are £20 more than the Fox ones, but it seem you get what you pay for.
