Team Reet Nooker and I made a visit to the North Shore trails of Herts Shore. After riding some of the smaller drops and planks I lined up for the big one.
Donning my full face helmet and assorted body armour I prepare myself for this mightiest of drops. I had already dropped its little brother so I felt invincible as I stared off the precipice that was this mighty man made 6 foot drop. I walked back to where my bike lay and made my first attempt at this beast, as I rounded the corner leading into it a shout could be heard `not enough speed` as I jammed on the breaks and bailed onto the narrow platform.
There followed a second aborted attempt now I was angry, a queue was forming debating the best approach to this beast. I slipped away from this growing crowd and made my fateful attempt, as I floated along the man made platform it all felt right, that is until I rounded the bend, I didn’t have enough speed again but nuts I thought as I put in a pedal stroke and tried to get the front wheel up. As I rolled out into thin air it all felt good for the briefest of moments until I felt the back wheel come up, I tried to move my weight back to balance the bike but it was to late I was travelling head first towards the ground in what seemed like slow motion. As I twisted my body to protect my beautiful face I came down with agonising force on my shoulder blade and as I hopped to my feet I felt the grinding of bone: something was broken!!
As it turns out I had fractured the neck of my humorous; rather painful!! The worst pain to endure however is the 2-3 months with no biking ordered by my miserable doctor!!
Now to put my feet up. See you in 3 months time :(

If you are in pain after a big crash, that is good, it means you are still alive.
