Yes, looking forward to Cross Fell – hopefully Shortbread will ride with me on the Monday, otherwise I’ll just pootle about by myself – can’t be bad (well, I spose it could be bad if I went out by myself, fell off hit my head , got disorientated, unable to find my way back off the moor, having to burrow into the peat to make a makeshift shelter, living off worms and moss, roaming the high fell for days on end howling at the moon, eventually losing my ability to communicate in English, uttering single syllable feral grunts, clothes now decayed to rags, develop webbed feet, matted filthy facial hair down to my knees ,walking with a bent over lolloping gate, being pecked at by crows, mocked by sheep, a crown of mistletoe and nothing but the idle grey sky and lonely wind for company….and nobody, nobody even knows I’m missing… just the remains of a corroded bike dug up by boyscouts in 2035, adding fuel to the local myth of the Cross Fell Sasquatch - all cast before me like shadows of a previous life….. ‘beware the moors lad, the lonely moors, home to the mad, yes beware the moors for there lives a lad gone mad….’
