What the hell are Goji Berries?
Ok, I bet you are thinking what the heck are Goji Berries? Well, some of you may have heard of the “super” Goji Berry but they have been used in traditional Tibetan medicine for centuries. It has been documented that this currant sized red fruit has more 2000 times more antioxidants than Oranges for example.
Where do Goji Berries come from?
The Goji Berry plants grow like bushes with vines that reach over 15ft in height high in the Himalayas. The berries are never touched by hand as they will oxidize and turn black if touched while fresh so collection of the berries is done by using mats and then shaking the plant to allow the fruit to fall. Once collected the berries are the allowed to dry naturally.
What are the health benefits?
People in Asia have customarily eaten Goji Berries and have been documented to live longer and healthier lives with little or no incidence of heart disease, stroke, high blood pressure, cancer, diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease, fibromyalgia, lupus, multiple scirosis, or a host of other "dread" diseases that are afflicting many of the Industrialised Nations of the world. It has also been known (which I don’t think is true!) that Professor Li Qing Yuen has been documented as being the oldest person to have ever lived in recorded history. Born in 1678 and living to 1930, he was documented by the Government of China as having lived to 252 years of age! Twice he received Longevity Awards from the Government. It is said he ate Goji berries on a regular daily basis.
How many should I eat and where do I buy some?
Well, you can eat as many as you want but a small handful per day (part of your 5 a day) is sufficient but try some of the recipes that are available on-line but my tip is to add some to yogurt or muesli to kick-start your day’s training. Goji Berries can be purchased on-line and at most health food shops. In terms of cost, 500g will retail at £10 to £13.
So there you have it, buy some Goji Berries today and like FanyLion, you too can ride longer, live longer and rave safe.
